Introduction

Sunday, February 23, 11:30am MST

This session will review the introduction of the book titled "Singing Over the Bones", that reflects on Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes motivation as a Jungian psychoanalyst and cantatora, and her identification of the ways wolves and women are similar. Themes within this chapter include reclamation to the instinctive, untamed, and deep knowing within the wild woman archetype and the value that myths and stories have as agents of transformation in our lives. Please feel free to join our Women Who Run with the Wolves group on Insight Timer to introduce yourself to the group and reflect on this week's journal prompts, and if you're interested in participating in the interactive format, send Kristen a message with your responses.

Reflection Questions for the Session: â€‹

  1. "Think of a myth, fairytale, or story that has stayed with you throughout your life. What about this story resonates with you? Have you ever felt empowered, understood, or guided by a story, either in childhood or adulthood? What lessons did it offer you?"

  2. "In the modern world, we are often pulled away from our natural rhythms and instincts. Have there been times in your life when you felt disconnected from your intuition—where you found yourself numb, lost, or out of sync with your true nature? How did you recognize it, and were you able to realign?"

  3. "Clarissa Pinkola Estés writes: 'I'll tell you now, the doors to the world of the wild self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door. If you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.'

    • How does this passage resonate with you?

    • Where in your own life can you identify these doors—these moments or experiences that have the potential to reconnect you to your wild self?"
